Project Management Team
From a client’s initial concept, we take ownership of the challenges to turn them into business solutions. Our engineering teams offer a single point of contact to complete what we see as an “in-house” project, taking it through to commissioning.
The first step is to assemble the correct team to see the project through to the end. In addition to our people, this may include personnel from the client, any of their professional advisers and/or main contractor and must be achieved by liaison between all parties to attain the mutually desired goal. This management team must be dedicated to the project and have the skills and experience to realise the full potential of the latest technologies and techniques.
Planning ahead is vital and we recognise that this requires the team to focus on a number of areas including:
- Health and Safety considerations.
- Project planning and timing of key stage activities.
- Procurement arrangements for manpower allocation, plant and equipment and specialist services.
- Ensuring appropriate site management and supervision, co-ordination with others on site, quality and financial control.
- Compliance with statutory and other requirements.
- Health and Safety considerations.
- Completion and commissioning documentation.
- Energy saving and management.
- Our objective is to provide a comprehensive installation service, on time and within budget, to the completion satisfaction of our clients.
Parker Technical Services have a varied in-house design approach utilising the latest techniques and design packages. This approach can depend on the project and the clients’ requirements. We employ Hevacomp, Relux, Amtec and CAD to finalise our Mechanical and Electrical proposals. The use of BIM to iron out any coordination issues is also becoming prevalent. We know each project comes with its own set of variable complications but we have an open mind and treat each job independently.
In difficult existing buildings, we are able to develop our M&E installations in situ around the original historic structure. For instance, the listed Sudbury Hall imposed the challenge of updating the services whilst maintaining the aesthetics, Parker Technical Services sympathetically integrated advanced technical services in a characteristically 19th century building. That meant delivering practical services solutions while maintaining the atmosphere of Sudbury Hall, with a selection of materials and equipment that would blend in effortlessly with the building’s original architecture. It required an accurate and co-ordinated setting out process that was implemented with a carefully considered approach to the built and natural environment.
Many new installations are in complete contrast to this approach. For instance, the Mechanical and Electrical installation at the recent Central Yard Project was so vast in scope and size, so crucial to the project as a whole, that we incorporated a number of up-to-date techniques. Building Information Modelling (BIM), 3D coordination and clash detection guaranteed the design before the implementation of the installation phase. We utilised off site prefabrication and a modular M&E structure to ensure that all the services were fully spatially coordinated in both the most efficient and logical way.
With these methods of planning, organisation and management we were able to deliver meticulously the many types of pipework, ductwork and cabling systems in the several service gantries. It also enables us to have a dedicated aesthetic and coordinated plan for the smaller but often more intricate services in offices and specialist laboratories.
