Cofely District Energy (Library of Birmingham)New Switchboard
High Voltage Upgrade
Client: Library of Birmingham
Sector: Local Government
Liaising with consultants Building Services Design in Fort Dunlop assisted our being chosen by Cofely District Energy to supply the new Energy Centre at the Library of Birmingham with a 10 metre long 1600 amp Switchboard to distribute power to the engine ancillaries for this new CHP scheme. A combination of interlocked Air Circuit Breakers and outgoing feeds with electronic protection, integral detuned Power Factor Correction and facilities for remote load shedding gave the system the flexibility increasingly demanded by modern power generation schemes. The presence of a full size statue of a Friesian cow standing outside Fort Dunlop’s third floor elevator entrance provided a bemusing then amusing moment during our introductory meeting!
